Today marks exactly 200 days since I arrived in Canada. Time really flies!

This is also my first time living on another continent for an extended period, which has proven to be completely worthwhile and very different from merely traveling. Many aspects of this experience simply cannot be measured by numbers alone. Take my program as an example—it is not only taking classes but also providing you valuable opportunities to integrate into a new society and develop a sense of community belonging.

A few additional reflections:

  1. Experiencing things in person and engaging directly with the physical world is far more valuable than relying solely on information online. Also, genuine cross-cultural face-to-face communication really does contribute positively toward world peace...
  2. Humans are fundamentally alike, transcending national boundaries. Many core skills and logical frameworks naturally transfer across countries and cultures—if you want to do something, just go for it.
  3. To be honest, I don’t think my English has significantly improved, but I’ve become more confident and shameless when speaking. Achieving CLB9 remains challenging for me, though certainly less daunting now than two or three years ago. (Thanks to GPT-4.5 for improving this poor draft...)
  4. Without ChatGPT leading this recent wave of AI progress, life would undoubtedly be less enjoyable and much less relaxed. Nowadays I feel like a tester constantly switching between various LLMs and products, genuinely enjoying the easygoing fun this role entails.
  5. Right now, the most important thing isn't chasing AI trends or urgently finding our roles or jobs; instead, it's maintaining a positive mindset and a healthy body to explore what truly interests us.

If super powerful AI truly arrives, it's fortunate to physically be here in Canada. At least at this moment, I'm very willing and happy to stay here long-term.

It’s time to build Canada together. (If Canada were a person, I bet they’d be glad that I’m here!)
